”The stay overall was great. The bed was comfy and the breakfast was really good. We arrived later than expected and there were building works happening in the main hotel so someone waited for us and explained that we had been upgraded to a cottage so we weren’t disturbed by the noise. The only things were that the water out of the hot tap for the bath was not very hot, and something had been spilt next to the bed so the carpet could do with a clean. Not our first choice of hotel in Derby but a...

”Georgian grand hotel. Hotel has done well to preserve the grand features. This is one for those who like character to a building. Staff were excellent. Service was fast and efficient. Lots of nooks and crannies to sit in with loads of old style leather oxblood sofas and chairs throughout- so comfortable after dinner drinking. Food was lovely. Only requests would be for fresh juices at breakfast rather than concentrate/ squash and a scrambled egg option. Very nice stay - will return....

”Despite the best efforts of the owner / manageress and her barman, our one-night stay can only be described as awful. The hotel is dirty (no less than 5 spiders in our room!), the décor is antiquated, the curtains let light in, there were no net curtains even though we were in a ground floor room (so the whole street could see us get dressed), there were very few plugs, the extra set of towels were left outside our room on the dirty FLOOR, the wifi did not reach the room and was only available...
