Lomamökit – Western Iceland

”We are a group of five friends who planned this trip almost two years ago. We had to pick off season due to our schedules. The weather/wind in Iceland was the worst it has been in 10 years, and we briefly lost power. Our host brought us a generator, coffee, pastries, and kept us updated every step. They checked in on us often and responded immediately to any questions or concerns. They have a very detailed book on property with instructions for everything. The house is amazing and stayed warm...

”We loved our stay at this cottage in Iceland. It was a perfect spot for our exploring to Snæfellsnes. The cottage was wonderfully equipped with everything we needed and all instructions were clear and easy to follow. We settled right in. My teenager loved the loft and having the cool windows. Iceland is a long way from home for us but we would come back in a heartbeat.”

”Our family stayed at Brekka for the holiday season. The host’s directions were spot on and we found the house no trouble at night,in the snow, and never having been to Iceland before. The house was warm and clean on arrival & fully stocked with all utensils and cooking pots and pans, etc we needed for our stay. The three bedrooms and upstairs loft all got used as sleeping quarters; everyone was comfortable and the blankets sheets and pillows were all clean and inviting for a good night’s sleep....

”My wife and I spent four nights in this duplex cottage in the town of Hellnar on the Snaefellsbaer Peninsula. We were greeted by an amazing display of the Northern Lights on our first night. The place was comfortable and quiet and had all the amenities needed to feel like home for a few days. The views are stunning--the sea in one direction and mountains and the volcano that dominates the west end of the peninsula in the other. There are several little places to eat within a 5-10 minutes...

”The place was relly nice! We got a clear view of the northern lights overhead which was amazing! The view of the horizon was slightly obstructed. But It was definitely secluded and out of the way. Only 4 stars because the highway lights shined almost directly into our window. The cottage was very hot. (Underfloor heating) with no way to turn off. And water had sulfur smell from the source (no fault of theirs), but it was off putting. ”

”The cottage was compact and well equipped for 2 people. I liked the quiet location and easy parking. I had two caveats: large downloads and streaming was prohibited on the wifi and guests were requested to change the bedding, make up the bed for the next guests arriving.”
