Private, fully-equipped home in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan that is close to many attractions and endless things to do! Decorated with winter and Christmas decor from November-early January.
Hike, fish, ride fat bike trails, visit waterfalls, swim in the lakes, visit the Great Lakes; the availability of the Great Outdoors is endless and is the perfect opportunity for you and your family or friends to have a year- round getaway! In winter, the area transforms into a perfect place to downhill and cross country ski, snowmobile, ride UTV's, snowshoe, visit Lake Superior, or Ice Fish! Complete with modern decor and lots of beds! Constant upkeep and maintenance done including a new bathroom floor, towels, and a new 50” Smart TV in October 2022. Great cell service! (verified on many cell networks). NEW 9/2022- wifi! Air conditioning, some toys, movies, and games to help make your time at the house enjoyable while you’re not out and about.

We have been verified as a great place to stay for those sensitive to chemical air fresheners and scents. We do not use air fresheners, we provide low/no scent soap, and clean with mostly natural cleaners. Please let us know if this applies to you and we will make special note to our cleaning personnel and make sure to the house is properly prepared for your arrival. For this same reason, we don’t allow four-legged friends; those with allergies need not worry about having a reaction in our home.

So much value as compared to a hotel! Privacy, a full
kitchen, back deck, jacuzzi tub, plenty of room for lots of friends or family, built in entertainment (Tv and/or games), a yard to enjoy, and close to many area attractions! We are less than 10 minutes from Snow River Resort, where you can ski at both Black River Basin & Jackson Creek (Formerly Big Snow Resort; Blackjack and Indianhead) on one ticket! Opening day this year is at Black River Basin on Thanksgiving Day!!

Room to park a boat or snowmobile trailer along the house.

Up for a ski speed camp weekend
House was very close to the Snow River ski area. Nice and convenient to the town of Wakefield with gas and a Dollar general. Also the bakery has very good donuts, and pastys. Our first time to the UP and first time using a VRBO. Nina the host was very helpful with our questions. And even allowed a late drop of one day with a refund. This was due to the plan of bringing our snowmobiles but NO snow. The neighbor was very nice too! Hearing his stories makes me want to come back next year with more snow! House is updated and clean with everything you need.

Cute and clean
This little lodge worked well for our needs for our family of 7 for a Monday-Friday stay. The house was clean, comfortable and affordable. It was important that we had a wi fi connection that was reliable and we were pleased that our son was able to log in for work purposes. He didn’t have any connectivity issues. The nearby town had a great bakery and a cute locally sourced gift shop. We recommend both! As we were there in summer and weren’t in area to ski, we spent our time taking day trips between 30 min to one hour+ away from the house. This house would really be ideal for the winter visitor as ski destinations are close by, but it worked out well for our needs and we would stay here again.

I couldn’t have ask for a better stay very clean spacious close to about five waterfalls porcupine mountains 15 minutes away we loved our stay didn’t wanna go back home. The neighbors were nice. The host were very nice. I can’t say enough about this place we will be back. We loved it going down in the family history books as one of the best stays ever I would give this place 20 stars if I could price unbeatable

Ski Race Weekend
This is a quiet old mountain mining cabin outside of town. It is well insulated and warm. We were in town for 4 days of ski racing and it was perfect for me and my son. We brought our own radio, cooked great food, and skied hard. The last night we went to El Tarasco and it was good. Cabin,:great comfortable downstars. You could fit 8 people easy on seats around the days video on tv. Upstairs is a loft like room with one main queen bed and two twins. In various old remodeled closets and rooms are many other really comfortable looking beds, just a bit tougher to get into. You could fit a good crew of 5 buddies here or many more families and kids that can share a space. Thanks to the owners.

Cozy Cabin
Cute, clean little spot! The upstairs is all one open space with 6 beds- one super comfy Tempur-pedic queen, There are three other queen mattresses and two twin beds. Everything we needed, property was always plowed quickly and well maintained. Only bummer was the tub as there was only enough hot water to fill up 1/4 of the way- totally unusable- but the shower worked great. Otherwise, it was a great spot for our family!

This is a cute little house! First, I would like to say how much we appreciated the driveway being cleared daily and even multiple times a day if needed. Another big thing for us is bathroom cleanliness - this bathroom was very clean and nice. This is a very cozy and nice place to stay. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

The Wakefield Bunkhouse rules!
Great stay at what we will affectionately refer to as the ‘Wakefield Bunkhouse’! We were in town with our teenage sons to ski Big Snow and it was just right for us. Clean, well equipped and quiet. Owners were great to work with as well.

We traveled to the area for a USSS ski race. Great location. Clean and functional dwelling. Sleeps many people in a dormer type setting. Similar to a hotel room. Wifi and cable or satellite TV would be nice. However, we had good phone reception.

Fun UP getaway
We booked this house about two weeks before our trip when we had a last minute change of plans. It served as a great central place to do several day trips in the UP and WI. The house worked well for our family of 4 but it might get complicated with a bigger group. There was no WiFi which was fine because we still had a decent cell signal (at&t). There’s not much going on in the town of Wakefield but there was a great bakery with delicious pasties! Overall, it was a great place to stay for our trip!

Excellent Gem of a place!
Nina is a superb host and is very attentive to all aspects of the stay. The house is fantastic and was perfect for our group of 6 (3 adults and 3 tweens). I think the best part is the back deck and the quiet of the area…..perfect for enjoying morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening! If we travel to this area again we’ll definitely stay here!

Very clean, amazing location! So many activities and family hiking trails and waterfalls in the area. Very quiet location and felt just like home! Beautiful backyard for the kids to roam and secluded. Would give 100 stars if I could! Great place to get away from the hustle and bustle and just relax!

Superb Stay!
We had a wonderful time at this beautiful clean home. Everything to wish for, was here....even 8+ hooks which many VRBOs don't have. We love exploring the area, skiing and coming back to relax at the well-equipped home. Our teens loved exploring the backyard, we cooked and the beds were so very comfortable. We will absolutly stay again!
