Kiwi Cottage combines luxury with charm. It is fully equipped with quality appliances, decorated to high specification and comfortable. It is complemented with a park of two acres and a heated pool of 12mX6m with pool house and summer kitchen. 50 minutes east of Bordeaux , 30 minutes west of Bergerac, 20 minutes from the world heritage town of St Emilion.

Kiwi Cottage nestles in the grounds of a completely renovated Maison de Maitre dating back to 1678 oozing architectural features and charm. The ancient original door of the Manor has been preserved complete with the lock and the key the size of which does not fail to amaze the visitors every time. Many vineyards are waiting to be explored. Most of them offer wine tasting and an expert tour of their vineyards. UNESCO protected St Emilion with its charming cobbled streets and exceptional wines is just 20 minutes away. The River Dordogne is just 0.4 km from the house and there are many pleasant spots to walk and cycle along the riverbanks. Canoeing, fishing and riding are popular activities alongside sports such as tennis and an excellent golf club is only 20 minutes away. Our local market (Sainte Foy La Grande) has been voted the people's favourite market in France and it’s a must see.

The magnificent fast train TGV takes you in 2h30min from Paris to Bordeaux. Bergerac airport 35 minutes away, Bordeaux airport just over 1 hour away – both have cheap flights to and from the Uk, Ireland and the Netherlands, as well as other destinations.

Meine Frau und ich hatten einen wunderbaren Urlaub in einem wunderschönen Cottage. Unsere Vermieter waren sehr hilfsbereit, zuvorkommend und gaben sehr gute Tipps für Ausflüge und zum Einkaufen. Das Cottage liegt schön ruhig und dennoch ist man mit dem Auto schnell über all hin. Am großen Pool mit Außenküche lässt es sich herrlich entspannen. Wir würden gerne wiederkommen. A delightful stay in the Dordogne
We had a splendid week at Kiwi Cottage, La Gorce and were perfectly looked after by our welcoming hosts Caspian and Lulu. The cottage is spacious, well appointed and equipped with everything needed with ample shared outside space and pool area. The surrounding countryside is everything one could wish for in a quiet spot between the village of Velines and the Dordogne river. Whilst the village of Velines itself has very limited facilities, a supermarket is only a few minutes drive away as is the train station providing easy access to eg Bordeaux, St Emillion and Bergerac.

Wir haben eine Woche in dem schönen Ferienhaus zusammen mit unserer kleinen Hündin verbracht. Wir haben den Aufenthalt in der Unterkunft genossen - sie hatte alles, was man braucht! Das Grundstück mit großem Garten und Pool sind perfekt für einen Aufenthalt. Caspian und Lulu waren sehr freundliche und einladende Gastgeber, und hatten stets gute Tipps. Wir hatten einen schönen und interessanten Abend mit Ihnen zusammen. Ein großes "Dankeschön" an Caspian und Lulu We spent a week in the beautiful cottage together with our little dog. We enjoyed our stay in the accommodation - it had everything you need! The property with large garden and pool are perfect for a stay. Caspian and Lulu were very friendly and welcoming hosts, and always had good tips. We had a lovely and interesting evening with them. A big ‘thank you’ to Caspian and Lulu Nous avons passé une semaine dans cette belle maison de vacances avec notre petite chienne. Nous avons apprécié notre séjour dans le logement - il avait tout ce qu'il fallait ! Le terrain avec le grand jardin et la piscine sont parfaits pour un séjour. Fabulous property
My husband and I stayed at Kiwi Cottage for 13 nights and it exceeded our expectations. The location is ideal - so peaceful yet minutes from amenities. The accommodation is spotlessly clean, spacious and really well equipped with everything we needed. The garden is great for relaxing and the swimming pool is perfect - the lilos provided by Caspian were much appreciated! Caspian and Lulu are charming and helpful hosts and added much to the enjoyment of our holiday We hope to return!

Very quiet and peaceful location, but just minutes from amenities. Caspian and Lulu and were on hand to help and give advice and Joy (dog) always ready to greet us, particularly for alfresco dining! Recommend using train to get to Bordeaux, cheap and reliable and only 5 minutes from cottage.

Wonderful stay
We were on a 2 and 1/2 month European vacation and this was a week of much needed down time. The owners met us when we arrived and the Kiwi cottage was excellent. The pool was excellent and we toured a couple of Château wineries. I can't say enough about the area, the cottage or our hosts!

Beautiful quiet location surrounded by vines and nature. Idyllic spacious pool and setting. Perfect temperature and away from accommodation with table and chairs for dining and sun loungers with parasols for sunbathers. Caspian and Lulu very friendly but gave us our privacy. There’s another gîte quite nearby but we have separate areas/garden spaces so not a problem unless you have dogs!!

Kiwi Cottage was the perfect place for us to stay for 10 days: delightful villages, chateaux, grottes and gardens all nearby. But more importantly it was a peaceful countryside haven with beautiful, expansive grounds and a swimming pool where we spent many afternoons cooling off in the 34 degree weather. What a contrast to the Covid stress and insanity we were experiencing in America. The excellent king bed allowed us to linger every morning and slow the pace of our daily plans. Eating on our little patio, enjoying pastries from the local boulangerie, picking blackberries for our muesli, reading and playing cards in our spacious living room were easy to do in such a lovely setting. We cooked all our own meals in a kitchen that met most of our needs. Our original 2019 stay at Kiwi Cottage was cancelled due to Covid. Hosts, Caspian and Lulu, stayed in touch with us throughout the next year and a half, making a smooth transition for booking 2021 and keeping us updated about new Covid developments in France. Their caring, concern, and positivity were reflected well before our arrival. During our stay they respected our privacy but were available for any questions or concerns. We invited them to a glass of wine and appertif for my birthday and ended up talking and laughing for two hours. Knowing we needed a negative Covid test before returning to America, Caspian went ahead and scheduled appointments for us at the local pharmacy. Coming from the a country where politics and Covid have ruptured the fabric of our society, we found our faith in humanity being renewed by the kindness and sincerity of our hosts and the labor of love reflected in their property. Nous avons passé une semaine très agréable au sein du Kiwi Cottage. Nous avons pu profiter de cette ancienne demeure spacieuse et joliment rénovée, de son grand parc fleuri et de sa très belle piscine, dont la taille relativement rare pour une piscine privée permet de nager réellement. Enfin, Lulu et Caspian, les propriétaires résidant dans le bâtiment central, sont deux hôtes parfaits car discrets tout en étant à l'écoute des éventuelles attentes.

Kiwi Cottage offered us everything we needed for a lovely holiday: The Cottage is fully equipped and clean. Caspian and Lulu are lovely hosts: knowledgeable, helpful and respectful. There are lovely views of vineyards and wildlife abounds. Lots to do in the area, especially for wine and food lovers. The swimming pool was a must in the heat and it was always clean. Obviously they use good products as there was never the smell of chlorine nor burning eyes from chemicals! We heartily recommend this property!

Wonderful stay at Kiwi Cottage
We had a wonderful holiday at Kiwi Cottage. Caspian & Lulu are excellent hosts and were very welcoming of us and our dog, Luna. They were always on hand to provide information about the local area and recommendations of things to do, but were in no way imposing. The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed, the pool & grounds were beautiful and relaxing. There is lots to do in the local area, plenty of restaurants, wine tasting and places to visit. Local amenities like bakeries, supermarkets and vets nearby. Overall a wonderful holiday, we would love to visit again!

Summer break
Lovely one bedroom cottage. Had everything and more than we needed . Lovely peaceful location . Our hosts were available but also very discreet.

Fantastisch!!
Jan & Rita, Amstelveen, The Netherlands In the second half of July we had a wonderful holiday in La Gorce. Kiwi Cottage was nicely decorated and cool when it's hot (thick walls and airconditioning upstairs). Also a wonderful swimming pool, a beautiful view and very quiet. Our contact with Caspian and Lulu was warm, open and relaxed; we felt very much at home! A very nice place to visit the surroundings, such as markets, Saint Emillion and Bordeaux, as well as to relax by the pool. In the neigbourhood were nice restaurants; our favourite was Le Gensake and for lunch (and wine tasting) Chateau Carbonneau. In short: great and worth repeating!
