It’s difficult to rate travel experiences across different countries since each destination comes with its own unique challenges based on its economy. For example, air conditioning in Bali is pretty much non-existent. Similarly, in Costa Rica, it was hard to maintain a cool temperature since the AC turned off whenever we left the room. Again, totally understandable—the balcony breeze at times worked even better anyway. Expectations are always key!
Cleanliness is also subjective—are the floors and bathroom clean? Yes. Are there perhaps water stains on the lamps? Sure, but you’re in Costa Rica, living Pura Vida. Who cares?
That said, I absolutely loved this hotel—the location, food, ambiance, and staff were all fantastic. One minor inconvenience was that the room’s electricity was powered by keeping our key card plugged into the wall, but I also don’t expect hotels in Costa Rica to operate the same way as those in a thriving economy. Luxury is a matter of perspective. Regardless, I would definitely stay here again!!
The breakfast buffet is amazing, and I highly recommend including it in your package to save money. The hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of Tamarindo, yet elevated on a hill, offering better views than other hotels in the area. The rooms are quite small, so I wouldn’t recommend booking for four people.
Overall, I’m giving this hotel 4 stars—5 stars for me means absolute perfection.
