”This hotel was very convenient if you travel by train. I was unlucky to arrive in the middle of the railway strike, so I had no advantage of the location. The hotel is a quite standard or a bit under a 4 star hotel. I did miss a hand shower and at least a shower cap, when the only shower is coming from above. The service, breakfast and bar was ok. Nothing special but nothing to complain about either. I could stay hear again. The price is less than other of this standard.”

”I booked a single room at the Grand for a one-night stay. The room was inland facing and did not have a view but it was very modern and smart, with a lovely marbled shower room. The room was very quiet and I slept better than I had in ages. Breakfast was excellent - a wide variety of buffet items. All the staff were extremely helpful.”

”Great location although parking was at a public parking garage next to the hotel luckily the hotel offer a discounted rate as the standing charge for 24 hours was £40.50 which is quite expensive. Hotel was clean and the staff very friendly our room which was an upgrade to partial sea view king size was excellent, great size, comfy bed and large walk in shower. Extras included bottled water which in the summer is a great extra. There was the usual tea/coffee available and the room had a fridge...

”Excellent beds and superfriendly staff, spacious room and bathroom. Within a reasonable walking distance from the center and sights. Only one local bus (77) runs past every 45 min. City sightseeing bus (15£ day) every 30 min. Breakfast was terrible for us non-Brits, I'd pay more to have a breakfast buffet with more choice. Room was super hot, no air conditioning and the windows could be opened only for about 15 cm.”

”The room and public areas were overall in very good condition and clean. The bathroom showed a few signs of wear but nothing to affect the stay. The room was fairly basic but I appreciated the en suite. The staff were very helpful and polite. Parking isn't all that straightforward. Street parking is tight, or alternatively you can use Chapel Street car park which I wouldn't recommend to nervous drivers due to some tight spots and corners entering and exiting the facility.”

”Selina is in a super convenient location for the seafront and plenty of places to eat, close to a lot of bus routes. However, one of the nights I stayed was very noisy outside, even with the windows shut - it was quite difficult to fall asleep with a lot of yelling/drunkenness. However, the hotel itself is lovely - nice decor, nice simple breakfast, good shower, plenty of towels, good bedding, good wifi. ”

”Had a really lovely time staying here for 1 night. Staff are very helpful and polite. Room was amazing. Yes it is an old building so there is going to be some tied look in places. The only down side is the parking if you can get in the hotel parking ( limited spaces ) its 25 pounds for the night . Apart from the parking which i went off one of the side streets and found somewhere but just to warn you its not easy. Had an evening meal at the hotel and it was very good and great value for money....

”There is no elevator so the staff carried my bags to my room. The restaurant food was good but not great but the service was great. My room was very big with a claw foot tub and a rain shower. The most wonderful stay
"My “compact double” was huge, it had even a separate dressing space! The room must have been redone quite lately as everything was so nice and everything was kept very clean. Service was impeccable during my whole stay, in the bar, the breakfast and especially in the reception. The location is the best possible; by the sea and buses leave 50 m from the doorstep. The only thing that disturbed me was that the room was pretty warm although I slept with the windows open. There was a fan, but at night I couldn’t find a wall socket to plug it in close to the bed. "
