Excercise and amazing view
We, a family 2,5 and 4,5 year old kids spent a week on Skiathos at the end of September 2011. The taxi driver taking us to the hotel from the airport "encouraged" us by saying that we have truly selected the wrong place as the only possibilities to get there with small kids would be either to take a taxi every time or to rent a car for the whole week. We proved him to know nothing about Finnish little girls by walking up to the hotel several times every single day. It took us 20 minutes in the mornings to walk down to a bakery and back so the amount of excercise wasn't really that big. However, the hotel can not be recommended for people having hard time walking stairs and uphill.
The apartment was a bit worn our (as pictures showed already earlier) but cosy and clean. The mattresses were hard so if you like soft ones, choose another hotel. We slept ok the kids staying downstairs and parents upstairs.
The number of kitchen utensils was quite limited, there was not enough knives and drinking glasses for everyone. If planning to cook more in the apartment this should be taken into account.
The pool area was quiet and the kids enjoyed it. Also the way down to the center did not have too much traffic for the kids to walk themselves with adults. Also parking on the yeard of the hotel was easy which can not be said in all locations.
The personnel was available in the pool bar at most times but there was no 24/7 reception. We did not miss one either. As the weather turned rainy the staff read our minds even without asking and brought us blankets for the nights.
The view over town was just as beautiful as it is in the photos and walking to the town center or closest beach took 15-20 minutes. The sounds of traffic or bars were not to be heard in the apartments so we enjoyed peacefull nights.
The hotel suits for people having own initiative and enjoying peace more than closeness of restaurants and bars.
