We stayed at the Nong Kiau Riverside for 1 night in mid-December 2018.
The location is great, on the bank of the Ou River right in the centre of town. There are plenty of eateries outside, although the hotel has its own restaurant as well.
The accommodation consists of timber/bamboo bungalows, complete with bathroom, split system air-con and good Wi-Fi coverage. The room was clean and tidy. There is also a balcony overlooking the river. Mosquito netting is available for the bed, which we did not use overnight, only to discover some mosquito bites in the morning. The bungalows are spread along the river in a nice setting.
The bathroom was a reasonable size, but the shower tap was a little stiff making it difficult to obtain the desired water temperature. There is also a safe in the room, but it was locked so we could not use it. We did not try to contact reception about getting it opened.
We only used the restaurant for breakfast. There is a limited range buffet available, but they can also cook eggs for you on request (we did not). One problem we had was small bugs in the orange juice – not just in our cups but in the main container as well. Kind of turned us off breakfast a little. On the positive side the view from the restaurant is even better than from the rooms.
Overall, this can be a great place to stay once they work out the issue with the breakfast mentioned above.
