Subpar
To start with the (only a few) positives:
- The property manager was forthcoming and friendly.
- Location of the property is ok: Elafonisos is 10 minutes by car + 10 minutes by ferry away; Kastania cave, Petrified forest and Monemvasia are all 30-40 minutes away. The nearest town, Neapoli, is 5 mins away (all by car). However, the neighbourhood itself is less than scenic, a dirt coastal road leads you to the property. Nowhere to go on foot. The coast is dirty/littered in many places.
- The view from the terrace is nice, you do see the sea.
- The basement level of the house is comfortable in size.
Unfortunately, many more negatives:
- Air-conditioning didn't quite work and couldn't cool down the place. The buildings are poorly insulated and it is scorching hot on the upper floors.
- The master-bedroom bathroom is literally tiny and there is no way and adult man can take a shower without showering the whole place.
- There are no mosquito nets on ANY windows and you have no option but to keep the windows closed at night. This, coupled with the sub-par air conditioning, made the place impossible to sleep in.
- There are way more houses on the property than is suggested in the pictures and the swimming pool was crowded at times. Also, the swimming pool area wasn't visible from our house and we couldn't let the kids go there alone.
- The house is in a general state of disrepair and smaller than expected.
