”We were happy with our stay. It was a newer property, very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Our only negative was that the breakfast was only so-so.”

”We've always thought of the Gateway as the crown jewel of hotels in Ames. This visit had several disappointments. No daily housekeeping without asking, however we were not informed of that. So we waited for restocked coffee and condiments, clean towels, clean trash receptacles and tissue. Also our bathroom faucet was loose and flopped back and forth when turning on and off. Finally reached out to the manager and was informed about no daily housekeeping. They did come and restock most items but...

”The room was comfortable and clean. Pillows and bedding was soft and comfortable. The breakfast buffett was ok for the dry goods and prepackaged products. But the cooked food didn't look appetizing. The night time desk person was apologized for not being very friendly when we asked for the wifi password that was not written in our key folder. He was really busy?? The parking lot has many parking spots available, but has a lot of curbs if you are pulling as long trailer. Overall the hotel,...

”My room was mostly clean (water rings on some of the furniture that were sticky), but overall satisfactory. It was quiet and comfortable. I liked the layout including a sitting area with a desk. The architecture was beautiful (Frank Lloyd Wright). It’s a bit dated, but not awful. Close to Mason City’s downtown which is so quaint and totally walkable. Lots of history and beautiful architecture. I highly recommend if you want to hang out for a day or two.”
