Escalante Cliff House

Congratulations!! You found the owners website where you can book the Escalante Cliff House for the lowest price with the most flexible cancellation policy.
The Escalante Cliff House was completed May 2019 and is on 160 private acres overlooking the Escalante River Valley and North Creek River Valley. The nearest structures are the Slot Canyons Inn Bed and Breakfast (breakfast available with a reservation) and the North Creek Grill, both about ¼ mile away. The property is in the heart of the Escalante Grand Staircase National Monument and is 10 minutes from the town of Escalante, Utah.
This is a 2200 sq/ft, 3 bed, 3 bath home. The central living room design is inspired by the circular “Kiva” room of the Ancestral Pueblo Native Americans that previously inhabited the land, and left behind several cliff dwellings, pictographs and petroglyphs in the surrounding area. Half of the Kiva Great Room circle is made up of windows which acts as a passive solar heating system in the winter and gives the room a 180° panorama of the valley below. In the center of the room is a large cylindrical stone fireplace for romantic ambiance or fun group evenings.  The house features fiber internet from South Central Communications with 1 gigabit download speeds.
Above the Kiva Great Room and the master bedroom is a 1500sqft roof deck where guests can enjoy 360° views of the surrounding cliffs, river valley, Boulder Mountain, Henry Mountains and Box Death Hollow by day and the brightest star gazing imaginable by night. Come enjoy the newest, most secluded rental home with the best views in Escalante!
With the roof deck, this property would also be incredible as a yoga retreat, wedding venue, corporate retreat, etc... Contact owner for arrangements.
FAQ's
PET POLICY: NO PETS ALLOWED EVER EVER EVER. I've never and I can't and won't make an exception so please don't ask. I have people that rent the house that are deathly allergic to pets and I have to promise them that there has never been a pet in the house. If I find out that you have a pet in the house, I will call the sheriff and have you escorted out of the house. I'm sorry that I have to be so blunt and hard core about this but peoples safety is on the line.
WINTER CONSIDERATIONS: Between Mid November and the end of February there is a possibility of snow on the road up to the house. Even if the road is plowed, it's likely that a 4wd will be needed to get to the house, especially at night.  A 4wd is highly recommended during this time.
DISTANCE TO MAJOR AIRPORTS: The house is about 5 hours from either Salt Lake City airport or Las Vegas Airport.

Couldn't have asked for a better house. It's quiet and secluded and the views are incredible. From the stargazing from the roof deck to the sunrise from the dining table and back deck, it was perfect. Plenty to do exploring the property and its proximity to town was what we needed. Would stay here again.

We struggled with the directions a bit in that we did not realize they were so detailed and came up quickly. We would drive after reading one detail and pass the second detail b/c we had driven too far. Does this make sense? Thank you for having an extra propane tank next to the grill for the outdoor fire upstairs. Very Thoughtful. The place was amazing in everyway!!

Note: this review includes some feedback for the property manager, but there does not seem to be a separate field for this, so it is all in one paragraph! Beautifully designed house on stunning property with peace and privacy. Great space for our family and kids. For the money, I wish the details were a little better designed. I would suggest nicer sheets in master bedroom and a water kettle for boiling water. There is also no hood over the range, and just for others to note, it is an electric rather than gas range. Also, we had issues with running out of hot water, despite the apparent size of the water tank. Also, the master bathroom was unfinished concrete, which looked nice over the sinks but looked unfinished in the toilet area. The sinks are also very high, nearly uncomfortable to use for our smaller statured family. Water pump is a bit noisy when others are taking showers and your are trying to relax in the common space and enjoy the views. These were details that didn’t detract too much from our enjoyment but are worth mentioning given the price. Kids amenities were great (toys, booster chair, utensils, travel crib). I think the value is in the privacy and beauty of the property, and we really enjoyed several walks around the property and had great access to activities in the area.

Our four day stay in your beautiful home could not have been better! Your home is positively spectacular in every way-from the out of this world setting, to beautiful windows everywhere with unbelievable views, to great common spaces, to comfortable bedrooms, to great bathrooms with instant and plentiful hot water to all the needed amenities to beautiful grounds to explore-your home just can’t be beat! The host is very responsive to any questions/needs. For those wanting to explore fabulous Escalante Grand Staircase, this location is superb as you feel like you are living right in the park but yet so close to the town of Escalante with several very good restaurants for dining out. If you prefer to dine in, there is a grocery store in town as well and beautiful spots to dine either inside the home or on the roof balcony. The sunrises, sunsets and night skies are amazing from your home! We absolutely loved our stay and hope to visit again!

This rental defines awesome! From booking to check in to the stay itself and all the way to check out was an excellent and easy experience. If you are looking to be completely private but close to things to do, this is the place. The house itself is top rate. Modern, very, very clean and well designed. Lower back patio is great to hang out in the day, awesome view.. The top patio at night for the most incredible stars. You won’t believe it. All of the bedrooms are very roomy and again, incredible views. All the amenities are great. Everything you need. Would highly recommend for you to rent this property if this description/review is what you are looking for. Thank you Spencer, we appreciate the opportunity to be able to stay here!!

Winter Visit
We visited Escalante in late February, right after a snow storm. Gorgeous views from this lovely home. Beds are very comfortable and kitchen is well stocked with whatever cooking items we needed. We enjoyed our visit very much. Be aware that if you come in winter, you will need 4-wheel drive to access the home, but it is well worth the effort.

Something for everyone
Wide Hollow Reservoir- my son caught enough fish for a fish fry & we enjoyed swimming here after hiking all day. Bryce Canyon, Zion and local trails everywhere. Loved that Escalante is not filled with tourists yet offers everything we wanted: beauty, great restaurants, typical small town grocery store & I highly recommend visiting Marcy’s Organic Grocery & Cafe. She had everything a health-conscious foodie & even a non-health conscious foodie could want. Spencer responded immediately to all of our questions and was very helpful. There were 7 of us (6 adults + 1 teen) and we were comfortable. We personally would not have wanted more ppl in the three bedroom house. The kitchen is stocked with everything but I would add a tea kettle. Incredible home, location & experience! Our 4th trip to Utah (Park City, Zion & Moab previously) and we would return to this area & home. Thank you, Spencer!!

Positives: 1. Our family has been staying at VRBO’s for decades, and this may be the most well designed house we have visited. There are too many intentional details to mention. How this unique, contemporary house was built without disturbing its surrounding landscape was an architectural feat. 2. The rooftop terrace with gas fireplace and dining table allow you to enjoy the beautiful mountain view and thousands of stars above. 3. There is plenty of storage and ample space for our family of four. It would probably max out at sleeping six to be comfortable. 4. There are acres to explore. We found some very cool petroglyphs. Great place for kids to roam. 5. If you are not into the outdoors, this property may not be for you. We loved Grand Staircase, Capitol Reef and of course Bryce Canyon. For a day of adventure, I highly recommend spending a a day with Excursions of Escalante ~ one of the highlights of our visit. 6. Of course, numerous windows to enjoy the views of the sunrise and sunsets. 7. All amenities are up to date to make your stay a comfortable one. The home is very clean and in order. 8. Price. Anywhere other than Escalante, UT, and you’d be enjoying this for much more. Negatives: 1. Escalante is a quaint, clean town with very nice people. It is small and has a handful of good dining options (Escalante Oufitters for incredible pizza) We visited in the summer and everything (bars included) were closed by 9:00. The Cliff House is where you will have most of your enjoyment in town. So enjoy a bottle of wine on the rooftop and soak it all in. 2. The house will make subtle noises from time to time. If you read this, it won’t surprise you, and it’s really no big deal.

Wonderful property with unforgettable view
House was a base for Utah national parks visit. Very unique home with wonderful cliff top views. Would stay again and would recommend to anyone visiting the Escalante region. Wonderful house, nearby restaurant at Slots Canyon Inn being closed was the only disappointment but there are a couple of good options nearby in Escalante. Thanks Spencer for being a great host.

Hidden a gem in the Desert!
We loved our stay at Kiva Cliff house with just two couples. The setting was well beyond our expectations, tucked up away from everyone on a bluff over looking Escalante. The drive in was an adventure itself driving in between tall boulders and cliffs up the private driveway. Walking in the front door we knew we’d found a hidden gem in the desert! We enjoyed the unique architecture and sweeping views out every window! It was clean and nicely decorated with all the comforts we needed for our stay. - [ ] We loved the decks for morning sunrise and night stargazing. - [ ] Hiking trails right out the front door to the petroglyphs, waterfalls and river. such gorgeous landscape. - [ ] Perfect location for exploring Grand Staircase—Escalante! - [ ] Devil’s Garden—long washboard road for 12 miles but worth it! - [ ] Don’t miss, Highway 12 to Boulder and Torrey if you can. - [ ] Hell’s Backbone Grill in Boulder! Superb! - [ ] Burr Trail - [ ] Anasazi State Park, Boulder - [ ] Petrified Forest State Park We definitely want to come back! Thanks Spencer!

Unique cliff location
We had a great time at this property. We chose it because of its super cool location and views. Climbing on the rocks near the home was a lot of fun for me and the kids. Definitely a uniquely awesome place to stay.
