This charming 3400 sq ft. historic home has all the amenities you will need: 4 large spacious bedrooms, dining room, full kitchen, two spacious seating areas, pellet stove, work space with desk, laundry, hot tub, 2 car garage, WiFi, an open air & a screened in porch, outdoor fire pit area.

Group get together in Dubuque
This house was a great homebase for our group. Good location, comfortable stay, nice communal spaces, small playground nearby for toddlers, a beautiful front porch, and nice screened in patio as well. Hot tub a nice added benefit. Would stay there again!

This is the second time we have stayed there. At Christmas we appreciated the beauty of the house. This time we appreciated the wide porches, beautiful view and wonderful gardens. We have a large family and there always seems to be enough room for everyone.

Quick get together
We had a fantastic time in Dubuque. The home was fantastic and charming. The host was easily available and my guests and I had a relaxing weekend. Lots of extra rooms in the home and really great windows and views. Mid spring was a great choice to visit.

Lovely property in great location!
This is a beautiful historic home with modern conveniences in a classic setting. All rooms, including 4 bedrooms are spacious and nicely appointed. Though house is on a hill, access from driveway requires no steps. In addition to the 4 upstairs bedrooms, there is a sleeper sofa in one of the 3 sitting areas downstairs in case anyone does not want to try either of the two sets of stairs. Better weather would have found this small group of senior friends enjoying the views from one of the 3 porches--Maybe next time! Thick towels were abundant, as were throws to wrap up in. Location was close to just about everything in the downtown area. Tom the host was easy to reach and very responsive. We all enjoyed our stay and recommend this property without hesitation.

Rented highland house for a girls weekend. Beautiful property and plenty of room! Very clean and hosts provided more than basic necessities. Fabulous location with an awesome view. Great communication with the host.

We were in town for a funeral and found this house on vrbo. It worked out perfectly with plenty of space and the location was beautiful and convenient. Beds were comfortable and quiet. We will stay there again!

Highly, highly recommended
I can’t say enough good things about this property and its host. It’s warm and cozy, but huge. We loved the wood burning fireplace and used the very well stocked kitchen to prepare a Thanksgiving dinner. The house has a great location for everything in downtown Dubuque and is a short drive to Galena, IL. The views from the front porch are fantastic. It’s not just a great house, the host has also thought through all the nice-to-have things that some short-term rentals do not. They have tons of towels and there are comfortable throw blankets in all the closets, not that you need them. We didn’t use the hot tub, but my teenage kids did and loved being able to escape from the parents. They also loved that there were smart TV's in every bedroom. I highly, highly recommend this place and hope to stay there again.

Wondeful stay
The old charm of this house is absolutely amazing. Tom sent wonderful instructions on accessing the property so we had no issues at all. We had an evening when all of the family from muliple states were able to gather and reconnect and this house was the perfect place for what we needed. Next Dubuque family event we will definitely look to see if Tom's place is available!

Perfect Weekend Gathering

Fantastic Property at a Reasonable Cost
My friends and I stayed at this property for two nights to enjoy March Madness at the Q Casino and to do a little exploring in downtown Dubuque. The location is fantastic, just a mile or two from most everything we wanted to do in Dbq. The property was very clean and well maintained. The amenities were great. A cup of coffee in the hot tub each morning was just what the doctor ordered after being out late the night before. The owners were very accommodating and responsive. Overall a great stay and a place we plan to book again next year.

Our family stayed at this house when we came to Dubuque to watch my grandson bowl for Clarke University. Close to CU, lanes, and eating and entertainment. Group of all ages stayed for weekend. We will be back.

Beautiful House!
Our family, which consisted of us and our 3 children and their young families, stayed here while attending our extended family Christmas in Dubuque. What a beautiful place! It was very well equipped with everything we needed! Plenty of room to spread out, and plenty of room to all be together. We have rented several places in the area and this was by far our favorite!!! We hope that we can stay again soon!!

Christmas in Dubuque
Wow, this place was the best! We stayed at the Highland House for 4 nights the week after Christmas while visiting family in the area. The house is beautiful, comfortable, and the perfect size for our extended family with 4 bedrooms and a pullout sleeper sofa in one of the parlors. But most importantly, the owners went above and beyond equipping the house with everything we needed during our stay AND to top it all off, it was decorated for Christmas! I can’t think of a single bad thing to say, just perfect. We loved it! Will definitely be booking again in the future.

Beautiful old house
This was a beautiful old house within walking distance to downtown Dubuque. This was a perfect place to stay with our extended family. Loved the room layout, as each bedroom was away from the others. Amazing family room area with an easy to use pellet stove. It added to the charm of the property. Big front porch and screened in porch that would be perfect if it wouldn't have been below zero outside. Fully stocked kitchen allowed us to cook meals inhouse. Owners gave great recommendations for restaurant options. Please was clean and well taken care of for a 100 year old home. We easily slept 9 people.
