”It was our third visit to the Jolly Drover and we have always returned because the beds and bedding are so comfy and the accommodation is simple but well maintained. We have stayed in different rooms and this time were in room 6. Everything was fine until we got into bed. The mattress was so awful that you could feel the slats on the bed. I nearly fell out on one occasion. It was a horrible night and very sad because we were exhausted after a long drive from Wales and settling a family member...

While some of the reviews mentioned noise in some of the suites, we only heard guests downstairs when we were in the bathroom and then only in the afternoon. It was quiet in the evening / night. It was a great place to stay after a 5,000 mile trip from the Western US and recover from jet lag before going on to meet friends and family elsewhere in the UK. (It’s about a hour from Heathrow). ”Beautiful place set in a great location for peace but close enough to the bustle. Staff are amazing and felt more like ‘home ‘. . I’ve employ them all. Bar. Restaurant . Management. Food was superb. Parking easy and beautiful building. Rooms modern but somehow felt ‘right’ for the era. Only negative is rooms are small and a sleeping head is very close to WC . Problem not for most but I get up a lot. The joint on bed was noticeable but just meant could not cuddle. Would definately stay again...
