The Rock River Cabin

2 bedroom cabin along the Rock River! Centrally located to many different activities! State parks, the rock river, and the Byron Drag strip. Great food options, multiple brewery’s close and also 15 minutes from the Rockford Airport

There is currently no dock or direct access to the river. The Oregon dam is 10 minute drive and a popular fishing destination, as well as a public boat launch in Byron (5 min drive).

Just what we needed

A nice get-a-way!!
We are from the state of Oregon & traveled to Illinois, we stayed 6 nights just my husband and myself. Owner's communication was great, I had quick responses. Property was clean, quiet & most everything you needed was there. The big windows offered a great view with birds, squirrels & deer in the yard. Thermostat easily accessible and user friendly. TV, coffee pot, shower all easy to use. Master bedroom bed was clean and comfortable, the room itself was large with plenty of dresser and hanging space. We didn't use the guest room but it was clean and plenty of room in there as well. We had access to the laundry which made the stay that much better! We purchased our own detergent and it was simple using the washer and dryer. Bathroom is a little snug but everything worked just fine. Plenty of bath and wash towels. Kitchen has your basic supplies. Drip coffee pot, stove/oven, toaster, dishes, silverware (only 4 of each), pots and pans. The only thing that we would recommend is the 2 kitchen pans for cooking, need to be replaced. It's impossible to cook on (they are not nonstick) so it was very hard to cook breakfast and clean them after. But that is an easy fix. The house keypad entrance was great! Really user friendly! Property was large, the wooden chairs on the deck made for a great cup of morning coffee as you look out to the Rock River. We really enjoyed ourselves and would absolutely come back again when we return to see family. Highly recommend.

Family Reunion
Loved the cabin and the location. Scenery was fabulous. Location was very convenient to Byron and State Park where the reunion was. Patio door was extremely hard to open. Would have loved to open the windows for fresh air but could not due to big spider webs. Loved sitting outside in the red chairs. Inside was very clean, outside could have been better. Would definitely come back.

Beautiful Landscape
The house was located 3 miles from downtown Byron. We liked that we had the option of getting groceries and cooking or grilling at the house or running into town to eat at one of the numerous restaurants. Our goal was to fish and we found several places to do so. We took the short drive to Oregon, IL to see the Eternal Indian statue, which was amazing, while there we also had the wonderful experience of seeing eagles flying overhead. We highly recommend staying at Rock River Cabin, especially if you enjoy the outdoors and exploring local fare. I'm envious of the folks that get to see this beautiful landscape on a daily basis.

Byron Weekend
We needed a place to stay for a weekend vacation and this smart cabin fit the bill. Clean and updated with a great backyard property with views of the Rock River. We could escape the heat and relax inside during the day, but then grill and have a peaceful fire outside at night. Close to Oregon and Byron for amenities. 5/5 would recommend.

Everything was great, but the shower was very slippery. My son and I both slipped in the tub when taking showers. I’d recommend putting down some traction strips.

We enjoyed our stay at the Rock River Cabin. We found it to be very spacious and it filled our needs. The kitchen was well appointed and had everything available for cooking. We enjoyed how quiet the neighborhood was...it made for a very peaceful stay. The bed was awesome and my husband and i slept very soundly. We were most impressed with the quickness that Ryan responded to us. Communication with him was excellent which is something that is very important to us. We left the cabin feeling very rested and appreciative of this space.

Great location across the road from the Rock River. Quiet yet conveniently located between the towns of Oregon and Byron. The house was clean and nicely appointed with updated amenities. We will definitely look to book there again when planning a stay in the area!

Don't sleep on Byron, IL!
We had a really lovely weekend away in this cabin. It was very close to all the activities we had planned; hiking, breweries, shopping & farmer's market. The host gave excellent recommendations for places to eat and visit which we very much appreciated. The cabin itself was clean and comfortable. It was a peaceful visit to an awesome small town and we'll for sure be back.

Great Weekend Trip Rental
We really enjoyed our stay at the property - very clean, comfortable and open floor plan which was great. Only a short drive (15-20 minutes) to Lowden Miller State Forest and other outdoor activities. We'll definitely be back!

I think it best you can get
House is especially clean and arrange with taste of weekend house. I would not mind to have one like this. Owner invest descent amount of energy to arrange house and yard. River is near, no mosquitoes as I expected, great area for picnic, biking and fresh nights for great relax. I will definitely come again. All recommendations for this place 🙂
