Some new items of furniture we're not enough to distract from a moldy smelling room. The staff was anything but helpful and they all lacked basic customer communication skills. There were stains on the comforter. Carpeting sections arranged in a herringbone pattern were pulling up along all of the edges where they met. There was wallpaper that was peeling and bubbling up from behind obviously for a long time. There was a tremendous amount of evidence supporting the horrifyingly moldy smell of the room. The staff blamed me for not contacting them at 1:00 in the morning to solve my problem... After telling me that there were no other rooms whether that was a lie or the truth I have no idea... (When the airport shuttle failed to pick me up I did a quick search for other hotels in the area and this was the first on the list suggesting that there were open rooms.)
The only positive thing I can say is that the people who I spoke with at corporate had far better training on basic customer communication. However, I don't think that that should be an essential part of a hotel stay.
